Movement For Credible Cycling (MPCC) released its 2025 Credibility Figures on Tuesday, with the organization announcing 20 recorded pro doping cases, significantly down from 29 just three years ago.

Though, efforts by MPCC (as well as Internationale Cycling Union – UCI) to restore credibility to the sport after decades of high-profile doping cases tends to exclude tens of thousands of amateur cyclists competing world-wide, where doping continues to flourish – unabated.

Much the same as previous years, Gran Fondo Daily reported on close to 60 cycling doping cases associated with the amateur side of the sport in 2025, including:

2X MASTERS TRACK WORLD CHAMPION BANNED FOR STEROID DOPING

ITALY’S TOP FONDO RIDER SUSPENDED AFTER POSITIVE DOPE TEST

AMERICAN CHAMPION PARACYCLIST SANCTIONED FOR ANABOLIC ANDROGENIC STEROID USE

18 YEAR-OLD COLOMBIAN CYCLIST BANNED FOR EPO DOPING

GIRO FEM URUGUAY RESHUFFLES RESULTS AFTER TOP 3 FINISHERS BANNED FOR DOPING

60+ YEAR-OLD CHARGED WITH USING 7 PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS

GRAN FONDO NATIONAL CHAMPION STRIPPED OF TITLE AFTER DOPING CONVICTION

And most recently 2025 UCI Gran Fondo World Time Trial Champion Matthew Clark, who was banned for 3 years after testing positive for Anabolic Androgenic Steroids at the world championships.

In Italy alone over 400 people are included on the anti-doping Italian Cycling Federation Provvedimenti Disciplinari list of sanctioned or provisionally suspended individuals, with many recent additions coming from the amateur ranks.

In an effort to paint an improved view of doping within the sport of cycling, it seems MPCC and UCI are brushing aside the fact that doping now runs deep into the roots of the sport, including amateurs, juniors, U23 and masters age competitors world-wide.
