A police crash report obtained by FOX 4 News Dallas-Ft, Worth concerning the 20 December 2025 crash that killed two amateur cyclists in Pilot Point, Texas USA says the alleged driver was 23 years-old, not carrying a license, speeding at the time of the crash and refused a drug/alcohol test.
Frisco Triathlon Club cyclists Andre Kocher, 60, and Scott Mages, 55, were on a group training ride north of Dallas when they were hit from behind by a fast moving truck and mortally injured. Although both were rushed to local hospitals they later died from their injuries.
The alleged driver, who has not yet been named or charged with any crimes, left the scene of the crash, but returned before responding Pilot Point Police officers arrived 12 minutes after the crash was reported.
Texas law indicates refusing a drug or alcohol test in a crash may result in an immediate driver’s license suspension of at least 180 days. If the crash involves injury or death, police may obtain a warrant for an involuntary blood draw. The crash report did not indicate if that occurred.
Under Texas implied consent laws, refusal also allows prosecutors to use this fact in court proceedings as evidence of guilt.
