Located three hours from Cape Town, South Africa, on Saturday the beautiful landscape of the Cederberg region challenged gravel cyclist with rugged roads, epic climbs and plenty of sunshine as they tried to qualify for the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships.

In the 161 kilometer gran fondo race it was a battle of the Felixes, with 24 year-old Felix Stehli (TEAM VORARLBERG) of Switzerland defeating Felix Ritzinger by less than 30 seconds. Stehli finished in 4:35:40, Ritzinger in 4:36:06 and Marco Joubert stepped onto the final podium step after pedaling for 4:36:16.

After finishing third at the South African Time Trial championships in February, 37 year-old Zanri Rossouw stepped up to the top of women’s gran fondo podium. She finishing solo in 5:54:30, with Catherine Colyn and Lize Cornelius next at 5:50:09 and 6:08:51 respectively.

Luc Desvaux De Marigny won the shorter 68 kilometer medio fondo in 2:23:49, with Jenny Ronngren the fastest woman at 2:41:22.

Competitors finishing in the top 25% of their age/gender category qualified for the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships taking place in the Netherlands next October.
