The only South American event on the UCI Gran Fondo World Series calendar took place in Pomerode, Brasil on Sunday 10 November, with over 600 amateur cyclists vying for prized starting slots at the 2025 Gran Fondo World Championship.
Riders finishing in the top 25% of their UCI age/gender category automatically qualified for the world championships taking place in Australia next October.
Fastest on the 120km gran fondo route was 21 year-old Luan Carlos Rodrigues Silva (INDAIATUBA CYCLING TEAM), M19-34 category, finishing in 2:57:06 after out-sprinting Luis Henrique Flauzino in the final meters.
37 year-old Bruna Strube Lima (CICLISMO FMD RIO DO SUL / ROYAL CICLO / BIKE CONNECT) was the fastest woman, W35-39 category, finishing in 3:26:49.
In the 80km medio fondo for older age groups, M60-64 rider Alexandre Alvarez (RR CYCLING) clocked the fastest time, crossing the finish line in 2:02:40. W50-54 competitor Silvia Ribeiro Nardi Sanches (WILIER TRIESTINA) was the fastest woman in 2:14:22.
