The second edition of L’Etape Greece by Tour de France was held around Ancient Olympia in Western Greece on Saturday 6 April, with former Olympian and UCI Mountain Bike World Champion Periklis Ilias winning the 128km gran fondo race.
The 37 year-old Greek rider finished in 3:30:04, beating Charalampos Kastrantas (3:31:10) and Matinos Moutsios (3:31:16) by over one minute. Argyro Milaki won the women’s competition in 3:42:35, with Fasoi Varvara and Anna Olga Mitsou completing the podium
In the 76 km medio fondo race, the champion was Konstantinos Rakintzis (2:11:30), who despite crashing during the race managed win by over one minute. Elisavet Dimou was the fastest woman, finishing in 2:32:34.
Just under 1200 cyclists participated in the event, part of the worldwide L’Etape gran fondo series of amateur cycling races.
