After Stage 6 of the Paris-Nice professional race was “blown away” and cancelled on Friday due to high wind gusts up to 120kph and tornados across France, the organizer confirmed that Paris-Nice Cyclosportive will go ahead as planned on Saturday.

Although weather conditions throughout France were dangerous on Thursday and Friday, Nice saw sunny skies and temperatures above 20C. Long lines formed on Friday to retrieve starting bibs, with two thousand participants hopeful that the cyclosportive would go ahead as planned. For many, Paris-Nice Cyclosportive serves as start of the French amateur season.

On Saturday morning the cyclists will depart Nice to ride the final stage of the pro race, one day before the pros on Sunday. The 128 kilometers long route includes 2400 meters of altitude difference in the Alpes-Maritimes, including two Category 1 and three Category 2 climbs.
