Michael Kollert is on a winning streak, adding another yellow champion’s jersey to his collection after notching his second L’Etape victory of 2022 at L’Etape Slovakia on Sunday 20 August. Not only did the elite amateur rider win the race for a second year in a row, he also won L’Etape Czech Republic in June.

Kollert (Xeelo Cycling Team) was in control of the 117 kilometer race from the start in Bratislava, eventually escaping from the peloton with three riders, including two from team Procycling Aone. But Kollert was too strong for his companions and just rode them off his rear wheel to finish solo in 3:14:36.

Richard Varga (3:14:45) finished second with Procycling Aone teamates Jan Andrej Cully (3:15:23) and Martin Kostelnicak (3:16:14) taking third and fourth place.

Zuzana Bohacova won the women’s 117km gran fondo race in 3:38:31, followed by Karolina Makovska (4:07:27) and Julia Springl (4:09:26).

In the 65km medio fondo Lubomir Sulovsky took top honors with a time of 1:56:54, just a few seconds ahead of up-and-coming 17 year-old junior racer Patrick Hahn (1:57:03), who ides for the developmental Cycling Academy of Bratislava. Alena Pavlatova won for the women in 2:09:07.
