Western Australia hosted the second UCI Gravel World Series race, SEVEN, on 15 May with over 550 graveleurs participating and trying to qualify for the yet-to-be-announced-and-may-not-happen 2022 UCI Gravel World Championships.

In the men’s 125 kilometer race, 23 year-old Adam Blazevic (GIANT OFF-ROAD) defeated former WorldTour road racer Nathan Haas (COLNAGO), who made the switch to gravel racing this season.
Blazevic finished solo in 4:22:08 after dropping Hass (4:24:10) at the 115km mark on the final climb called Hideaway, a painful 2.4km ascent with an average slope of 7% and a maximum of 22%. Matthew Bird (4:30:35) took the final podium step, finishing third and over 15 minutes in front of the next rider.

32 year-old Maria Madigan earned her third consecutive SEVEN victory, winning the women’s race in 5:21:27, followed by Darcie Richards (5:33:11) and Steff Van Amerongen (5:43:52).
The UCI recently launched the Trek UCI Gravel World Series with qualifier events worldwide where riders can participate and qualify for the UCI Gravel World Championships by finishing in the top 25% of their age group.
Wish One Gravel Race in Millau, France on 5 June is the next event on the 2022 UCI Gravel World Series calendar.
