Multiple UCI Gran Fondo World champion Laura Simenc (Team De Rosa Santini) showcased her early season form by dominating the women’s race at Gran Fondo Internazionale Alassio in Italy on Sunday.

The Slovenian was first to cross under the finish banner with a winning time of 3:26:08, almost four minutes ahead of Annalisa Prato (3:29:41) and over fifteen minutes up on third place finisher Alessia Ravasi (3:42:15).

Last year in Sarajevo at the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships she won silver in the  time trial and bronze in the road race.   Her palmares also include Gran Fondo World Championship titles in 2014, 2018 and 2019.

In the men’s race at was Swiss rider Arnaud Tissieres who dropped his six breakaway companions  in the final 500 meters to win with arms raised and a time of 3:13:22. Italian Team Sildom Garda teammates Aldo Caiati (3:13:26) and Andrea Pisetta (3:13:30) rounded out the podium.
