The GFNY Worldwide amateur cycling series has added a Brazilian stage in the city of Bento Gonçalves on 16 October to their 2022 gran fondo calendar.
Taking place in the heart of Brazil’s world famous wine region, that looks, feels and rides like Italy’s famous Piemonte region, GFNY Bento Gonçalves will announce the return of the series to Brazil.
The main 146 kilometre long gran fondo event will roll through green hills filled with old vineyards and allow amateur cyclists the opportunity to earn a front row starting spot at the 2023 GFNY World Championships if they finish in the top 10% of their age category.
With an arduous 3200 meters of vertical ascent on the gran fondo route, plus short painful climbs, scary technical descents, historic cobblestones and hard pack dirt sectors, the course will be one of the toughest of the 29 GFNY events planned in 2022.
GFNY has set an ambitious goal of attracting a record 2000 riders to the event, which takes place about 900 miles south of Sao Paulo.
