On Sunday 6 February after finishing second two years ago, Bastien Terranova (Team Europ’Energie) came out victorious at Etoile de Bessèges Cyclosportive, the first event on the 2022 French calendar, in Alès after defeating two times UCI Gran Fondo World Champion Maxim Pirard and Alexandre de Marans.
“Two years ago, I finished second and I had a little revenge to take. This year, I got it,” an ecstatic Terranova said afterwards.
178 competitors completed the 96 kilometre amateur race, with the 33 year-old Terranova from Aix-en-Provence crossing the finish line in 2:31:19 adorned in a new pink kit for the 2022 season.
The cyclosportive was part of the 52nd edition of the Etoile de Bessèges professional race in southern France, won by Frenchman Benjamin Thomas (Cofidis) after 5 stages. World and Olympic champion Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) won the final time trial stage.
