IRONMAN Group, the new owner of the Haute Route Series of multi-day gran fondos, has released the 2022 Haute Route brochure and calendar of events, including three, five and seven day European gran fondo stage races.
The series kicks-off in June by bringing back the popular 3-day Haute Route Alp d’Huez last held in 2019 and ends with a new 3-day Haute Route Davos race in Switzerland. Unfortunately, in-between there are only three other events with the series shrinking from nine in 2021 to just five in 2022.
Haute Route events not returning are Haute Route Brazil, Haute Route Oman, Haute Route Mexico, Haute Route Watopia on Zwift, plus two European events – Haute Route Crans-Montana and Haute Route Ventoux.
Instead, the 2022 series will stay strictly on European soil for two 3-day events, two 5-day events and the classic week-long Haute Route Alps.
Haute Route Alp d’Huez, 24-26 June
Haute Route Pyrenees, 5-9 July
Haute Route Alps, 21-27 August
Haute Route Dolomites, 30 August-3 September
Haute Route Davos, 23-25 September
According to Haute Route CEO Julie Royer the series still plans to add international events down the road, “While Haute Route Brazil has been postponed for the 2022 season, the event will be back in 2023. We’re as excited as ever to see the inaugural event take place and we can’t wait to bring the vibrant Brazilian cycling community together with the Haute Route family.”
