Just after revising the 2021 UCI Gran Fondo World Series calendar and moving the World Championships to October, the UCI has cancelled three world championship qualifying races – Gran Fondo Dnipro Race in Ukraine on 20 June, Italy’s Leggendaria Charly Gaul on 11 July and Granfondo Rio de Janeiro in Brazil on 8 August.
Leggendaria Charly Gaul has requested a date change to September with no tentative date offered.
Also cancelled is the Time Trail World Championship qualifier at UCI Cache Gran Fondo on 9 July in the United States, but the gran fondo is still planned for 10 July.
Gran Fondo Dnipro and Granfondo Rio de Janeiro hope to return as part of the 2022 UCI Gran Fondo World Series. Although the 2022 series calendar has yet to be formally approved by the UCI, several events are already planned:
