In life, if you gotta strike while the iron is hot.
And WorldTour Pro Tom Pidcock with the Ineos Grenadiers is red hot this season. The 21 year-old British cyclist is one of the hottest young talents in the pro peloton. In April he outsprinted Wout van Aert to win the Flanders spring classic Brabantse Pijl and finished second by only 3 millimetres at Amstel Gold.
So with his new found success Tom Pidcock is striking out and returning to his Yorkshire home and training grounds to host an epic new Tom Pidcock 2021 Yorkshire Gran Fondo in partnership with promoter Struggle Events.
It takes place 1 August in Ilkley, Yorkshire with a choice of either 112 or 69 mile epic routes on the same roads that made Tom the superstar bike rider he is today. Riders will test their fitness and suffering skills on Tom’s favourite Yorkshire climbs:
KIDSTONES: Distance: 1 mile; Elevation gain: 429ft; Avg. Gradient: 7.8%, Max: 13.8%
FLEET MOSS: Distance: 3.4 miles; Elevation gain: 1,096ft; Avg. Gradient: 6% – Max: 15.5%
HALTON GILL: Distance: 1.3 miles; Elevation gain: 395ft; Avg. Gradient: 5.7% – Max: 14.1%
Entry is a reasonable £49 and gets you all the normal gran fondo bits and support, but for £162 you can get a VIP entry with special jersey, socks, front row start with Pidcock and opportunity to take awesome selfies with a WorldTour champion.
