Want to win an Olympic Cycling Gold Medal?

It is up for grabs this year at the new Olympic Virtual Series coming to Zwift as one of five official Olympic e-sports included in the first ever Olympic Virtual Series (OVS) games.

The OVS bike races on Zwift will run 1-27 June, ahead of the delayed Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 which starts in July. It will be the first time that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has ever recognized digital sports, and the OVS will be the first fully Olympic-level gams for e-sports.

Unlike the Olympics we’re used to watching, the Olympic Virtual Series on Zwift is a “mass participation series” which will allow anyone to compete from their own pain-cave, presuming they have the right computer, software, cycling equipment and a really big fan.

IOC member and Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) President David Lappartient is leading the OVS Olympic charge into virtual bike racing for amateur cyclists all over the world.

“The OVS aims to bring the broader cycling and sporting communities together for four exciting weeks of mass participation focused on inclusion and sharing of the Olympic values and spirit.”

Details on how you can participate, enter, or just watch are still a little hazy, however. Zwift says more information on the specific format of the events, routes, rules, awards and how to register will be communicated at the end of May.
