Via del Sale Fantini Club, organiser of the biggest beach cycling party in the world, is moving their massive Grand Fondo Via Del Sale festival for 25,000 visitors, 1100 companies and 5000 cyclists in the seaside beach resort of Cervia, Italy to 10 October.
The current situation, with data of the virus spreading still growing, unfortunately leaves us no choice. . After confrontation with the competent authorities we have made the suffering but necessary decision to postpone our [18 April] event until October 10, 2021, aware that in the second half of the summer there will be more favourable conditions,” they announced via press release.
As one of Italy’s most prestigious gran fondos, the 24th edition will be hotly contested by the best Italian amateur cyclists trying to cement their name as Gran Fondo Via Del Sale Champion on a 152 kilometre course with over 2000 metres climbing.
For riders looking for a little more grit and gravel, the organiser has added a new 128 kilometre Strade Bianche Via del Sale Fantini Club gravel event on 5 September. The gourgeous route takes riders through the demanding salt white hills and white chalk roads around Cervia before ending on the beach.
