The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) announced today an optimistic 2021 UCI Gran Fondo World Series calendar of 25 races, adding six new races and cancelling nine existing events.

After the 2020 season was shut down due to the pandemic, the UCI is hopeful that racing will resume as normal in February 2021 and culminate with the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in September.

The six new races are:

– Gran Fondo Australia, Australia, 6 FEB
– Granfondo Coimbra Region, Portugal, 18 APR
– Gran Fondo Antalya, Turkey, 2 MAY
– Granfondo Vosges, France, 16 MAY
– Tour Lakeland, Finland, 24 JUL
– Granfondo Isle of Man, Great Britain, 1 AUG

The nine UCI Gran Fondo World Series races cancelled and not returning in 2021 are:

Amy’s Gran Fondo (AUS), Gran Fondo Whistler (CAN), Dubai Gran Fondo (UAE), Gran Fondo Casablanca (MAC), La Bourgogne Cyclosportive (FRA),  Gran Fondo Costa Rica (CRI), Gran Fondo San Luis Potosi (MEX), Gran Fondo Ezaro (ESP), Tre Valli Varesine (ITA)

Riders finishing in the top 20% of their age group at one of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series races automatically qualifies for the annual UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
