COVID-19 couldn’t stop cyclists from racing 20 kilometres up the rock face of Pikes Peak in Colorado to reach the 4302 meter summit on one of the highest paved roads in America.
Local rider Seth Hurley from Colorado Springs won the gran fondo race with a time of 1:35:14, followed by Eric Hale at 1:39:58 and Dylan Widener at 1:40:1069 7.4 95.
Jordan Kilburn, also from Colorado Springs, won the women’s gran fondo in 2:07:20 followed by Stacey Hendry at 2:15:44.20 and Tristina Swarts in 2:25:17.
The fastest rider on the day was semi-pro rider Leroy Popowski who clocked 1:12:10 and holds the course record at 1:08:36.
