Despite a complex COVID-19 situation, the 17th edition of the Cyclosportive de La Madeleine took place on Sunday 9 August for a select 550 amateur cyclists.
The event is considered one of the most difficult and mountainous events in France with the main route having 4400m vertical climbing over only 135km, including the Alp passes of Croix de Fer, the Chaussy via the Lacets de Montvernier and the Madeleine.
In a heated battle between European amateurs, Ruari Grant once again showed why he is considered one of the top gran fondo riders in the world, beating Belgian Tim Alleman by 5:33 and former World Champion Tomasso Elettrico by 7:32.
On the women’s podium, Analliso Plato earned the top step, winning in 5:43:31 with Alice Meignie 6:06:13 and Estelle Masclet 6:42:41.
