Tired of riding virtual fondos in the basement? Can’t wait to ride a real one on real roads?? Want to qualify for the USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships???
USA Gran Fondo National Series has come up with an innovative way to let cyclists accomplish all three – FOR FREE!
Beginning 1 June, you can sign up via RidewithGPS.com to ride an official GFNS Solo Fondo on any of four courses during the month. A Solo Fondo is a gran fondo you complete on your own any time within a specific date range on an official course.
USA GFNS offers four courses to ride: Golden Colorado Solo Fondo, Solo Fondo Florida, Tour of Georgia Solo Fondo and Highlands New Jersey Solo Fondo. Cyclists can choose to ride Gran Fondo, Medio Fondo and Piccolo Fondo distances on each course.
Just upload your ride afterwards to RidewithGPS.com and check to see your results on the leaderboard for Overall and Age Group competitions.
So you don’t get lost, RideWithGPS provides turn-by-turn instructions for each course to download on your smart cyclo-computer.
Now comes the best part – awards and swag.
Every rider in each distance (Gran, Medio and Piccolo) has a chance to win at each of the Solo Fondos since they will be scored separately.
The first placed male and female riders on the event leaderboard on 1 July, 2020 will be awarded a Free One-Year Ride with GPS Premium Membership.
Age Group Winners, Male and Female in every GFNS age group and distance, plus the first placed male and female riders as of 1 July, 2020 will receive a GFNS Winner’s Medal.
Results of the GFNS Solo Fondos will count toward the qualification requirements for the 2020 USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championship, which are planned for 23 August, 2020 in North Carolina.
Wait it gets even better… complete a Solo Fondo and you will be eligible to buy a new Volvo automobile at employee pricing or you just might win (via raffle) a free stay at Garda Bike Hotel in Italy. Plus, just by posting about your Solo Fondo on social media you’ll get a free pair of Swiftwick socks.
That’s some pretty nice swag.
