TOUR Transalp, the oldest week-long gran fondo race in the world, has capitulated to COVID19 and postponed the sold out 18th edition till 2021.
With COVID19 pandemic conditions active worldwide and travel restrictions in place, the promoter decided the responsible thing to do was move the June event to 2021 and announced the change on Facebook today.
“The regulation due to COVID-19 is slowly lifting, but the overall situation and the travel restrictions means that we have to cancel the 2020 BIKE Transalp. It’s the first time in the history of the event that this happens, and it is a painful experience for us, as it will undoubtfully be for you. We know you have all been working hard to hit that sweet spot for this year’s Transalp. 😕”
Starting in Bruneck, Italy in the Southern Tyrol region on June 20, the 2021 TOUR Transalp will follow the same route planned for 2020, taking 2-person (duo) teams of riders into the heart of the Dolomites for an unforgettable 7-day gran fondo race experience.
Registered riders have until January to decide if they want to attend the 2021 race or receive a full refund.
