Nineteen year old Israel Cycling Academy Continental rider Omer Lahav rode 60km solo to win Israel’s biggest cycling event, Gran Fondo Arava, for a second year in a row.

With all his teammates in coronavirus quarantine following a training camp in Spain, Lahav did what he is known for – attack and make it stick. The up-and-coming rider showed his strength by attacking on Scorpion Pass, a 7km 3% climb, and then time trialing 60km to the finish line for an well earned upright victory salute.

His teammates watched the race unfold via live broadcast with Yuval Ben Moshe commenting on Lahav’s winning move, “To watch Omer devastating attack on the scorpions and then to go solo for 60 km – was so thrilling !“
For the 8th edition, over 1000 riders from 20 countries participated in the 130km gran fondo event held in the Arava Desert oasis of Sapir.
