Haute Route’s first gran fondo in China did not disappoint as the country put on an unbelievable show at 3-day Haute Route Qingcheng.

170 riders from around the world were treated to an incredible experience including amazing landscapes, colorful culture and delicious Sichuan Province food.
Oh, and riding in the rain, a lot.

But rain, drizzle and fog could not dampen the enthusiasm of racers (or 1000’s of spectators) as they rode 236km on roads closed by 800 police and course marshals. With over 5000m climbing, including some exciting dirt sectors, to say the course was challenging is an understatement.

吴云飞 took the overall GC win in 6:31:17 after a seesaw battle with 邵俊旗 and Tim Proctor. 邵俊旗 finished 1:59 back for second place with Proctor down 3:51 to take third.

In a dominating performance with victory in all three stages, 刘芊箬 won the women’s race in 7:44:13, with Yinxiao Wu and 叶婧涵 completing the podium.
