The UCI recently filled a large geographic hole in the 2020 Gran Fondo World Series Calendar by adding an event in France – La Bourgogne Cyclo.

It is the only Gran Fondo World Championship qualifying race in France and takes place on April 25, 2020 from Viré-en-Mâconnais, a charming village in the Burgundy wine region.

The 152km lumpy course through centuries old vineyards is technical and tough. It has 2400m vertical climbing, including col des Chèvres, col de Brançion and the consecutive climbs of the col de la Pistole/col de la Croix in the first half. Four other cols challenge riders on the back half too, le col des 4 Vents, la Croix Montmaint (highest point), la Grange du Bois and Péronne-Burgy.
Riders finishing in the top 20% of their age category qualify to attend the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Vancouver, Canada in September.
