The 4th edition of  Tre Valli Varesine Gran Fondo, part of the 2020 UCI Gran Fondo World Series, attracted over 1500 riders to Varese, Italy on a grey Autumn day.

31 countries were represented, including Italy, Switzerland, England, Germany, France and Russia, with some cyclists traveling from as far away as from America, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia and Egypt to try and qualify for the World Championships.

29-year old Italian Federico Pozzetto (ASD CICLI COPPARO) out sprinted an elite front group of nine riders to win in 3 hours and 23 minutes for the 130km Gran Fondo with 2000m vertical climbing and several cobbled sections.  Davide Busuito (TEAM DE ROSA SANTINI) was second with Roberto Cesaro (TEAM CESARO FALASCA) third.

Alina Mylka won the overall women’s category with a time of 4:02:38, followed by Maria Palmisano and Ilaria Dorio.

The largest race category was M45-49 with 123 entries, won by Pietro Capucilli (TEAM CESARO FALASCA).  With the top 20% qualifying for the 2019 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, 24 riders in the M45-49 category finished in under 3:47 to earn a golden ticket to Vancouver, Canada next September.
