Gran Fondo Pag – Cycling on the Moon – on the Croatian island of Pag offered an out of this world experience racing through lunar landscapes reminiscent of France’s Mont Ventoux.
From the start of the race at Zrce Beach, competitors embarked on 92km across Žigljen, Metajna, Stara Novalja and Luna all the way to the finish at Hotel Ole in Novalja. Along the way they climbed over 1200m.
In the men’s competition, Gregory Sikosek and Anthony Bilic finished together arms raise, with Sikisek a half wheel in front to earn the victory. Third place went to Matej Mercina. In the women’s competition, Maja Urban won first place, Maja Marukic came second and Rei Kurtin took third.
