Want to be the first European Granfondo Champion?
Pack your bags and head to the Italian city of Verona on June 9th for the inaugural edition of the Granfondo European Championships organized by the European Cycling Union (UEC).

All amateur UCI licensed riders are welcome, but since it takes place in the center of the grand fondo universe – Italy – be prepared for tight wheel-to-wheel competition on a challenging course.

“The mass cycling movement is continually developing, Rocco Cattaneo, the UEC President, said. “The creation of the Granfondo European Championships is another step towards achieving the objectives that we set in our development plan.”
The championships will be part of the Granfondo Alé la Merckx on a course of 80 miles with over 8500′ of climbing – and descending. Eight UEC Champion jerseys and titles will be awarded in both men’s and women’s age based categories.

UEC Cattaneo added: “The Granfondo Alé la Merckx is a reputed event within the gran fondo movement and is raced in a beautiful landscape giving its competitors infinite sporting, cultural and tourism opportunities, it will start from the charming Piazza Bra and finish at the famous Verona Arena.”
Better start training, June is only weeks away!
