As the last tune-up race ahead of Italy’s famous mixed-surface Gran Fondo Strade Bianche on 8 March, Gran Fondo Portorose rolled out from the Slovenian Adriatic seaside town of Portorose near the Italian boarder on Sunday 1 March.
Showcasing top form, 2024 Gran Fondo Strade Bianche Champion Diego Fragnini (TEAM FACTOR HICARI STEMAX) claimed top honors in the 135 kilometer event. The 30 year-old Italian won solo with a time of 3:20:20, followed by teammate Emmanuele Romagnolo and then Patrik Mikac, both credited with a time of 3:21:52.
31 year-old elite Austrian racer Kathi Machner (TEAM COOKINA GRAZ) won for the women in 3:48:58.
In the 85 kilometer medio fondo it was Arno Kaspret (STYRIA CYCLING TEAM) earning victory in 2:08:59, followed by Antonino Adragna and Lan Drinovec a few seconds later.
Sara Rokavec (RIKITEAM) finished first for the medio women in 2:16:10.
