Bakersfield, California hosted the 13th World Famous Rock Cobbler cyclocross-gravel-adventure “It Ain’t a Race” race on Saturday 7 February 2025 in the cow-pie and green grass covered foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

On a punishing and shenanigan-riddled 115-mile Boulder route with over 12k feet of vertical ascent, including numerous get-off-and-push sectors, Australian Lachan Morton (UCI WORLDTEAM EF EDUCATION – EASYPOST) won by a mile – or three.

The 34 year-old tough-as-nails adventure racer finished in 5:59:17, almost 23 minutes ahead former pro road racer Brandon Baker (6:21:42) and a half-hour ahead of Tour Divide competitor Everett Werner (6:34:13).

2024 USA Gravel National Champion Thomas Fuller (4:10:11) finished first in the more reasonable 75-mile Cobbler, followed by Kash Steele (4:14:36) and Nathan Barton (4:18:56).

For the women Cobblers it was 2025 Lifetime UNBOUND Gravel runner-up Ruth Holcomb (4:42:18) who prevailed, with Siena Hermon (5:23:45) and Cal Hobson (5:27:00) next.

Leading the 50-mile Pebblers back to the finish for a well earned cold beer was Riley Sato (3:36:26) and Carlos Hernandez (3:19:29) for the women and men respectively.

750 adventurous riders participated in this year’s Rock Cobbler.
