From a field of over 3000 competitors Sascha Weber and Daria Pravilova sprinted to victory in the 27th running of the 99er Cycle Tour in the Western Cape, South Africa on Saturday 7 February.

The main 95 kilometer road race ended in a huge fast and furious sprint, with multi-discipline (MTB, CX, Road, Gravel) pro Sascha Weber, 37, winning in 2:09:36. Hanro Geldenhuys was next, followed by last year’s champion Jean-Pierre Lloyd, both with a time of 2:09:37.

Sprinting across the finish line first in the women’s race was newly crowned W35-39 UCI Gravel World Champion Daria Pravilova of Russia in 2:22:21, followed by Catalina Rose Lamers at 2:22:22 and Michaela Surtees in 2:22:23.

James Haydn Hepworth (1:50:14) and Yonande Joubert (1:59:45) won the 75 kilometer race for the men and women respectively, while Aazam Burch (1:20:54) and Alandri Steyn (1:20:55) did the same in the 45 kilometer event.

The 80 kilometer gravel event raced over epic farm roads, rough jeep tracks and technical single track before Brent Yelland (2:17:22) and Erika Potgeiter (2:40:23) earned top honors for the men and women.
