The L’Etape by Tour de France worldwide series launched its 2026 season on Sunday at L’Etape Dubai with Majid Al Balooshi and Carolina Karlsson winning the men’s and women’s marque race
In a hotly contested 115 kilometer battle Majid Al Balooshi of the UAE finished first, pulling on the winner’s yellow jersey after crossing the finish line in 02:36:21. Omani Faisal Almamari (2:36:45) and the Russian Stepan Shishkov (2:36:46) completed the men’s podium.
Sweden’s Carolina Karlsson claimed top honors for the women, earning her yellow jersey in 02:37:52. Russian’s Kristina Zabolotko (2:42:59) and Maria Bykovskaya (2:43:01) finished second and third.
Chrysler Tadena from the Philippines won the 67 kilometer race with a time of 01:37:50. The women’s medio title went to Czech Alena Pavlatova in 01:39:03.
The Peter Sagan Sprint Challenge saw Francesco Bettini of Italy win the men’s sprint competition, while women’s 115km champion Carolina Karlsson did the same and added a green sprint jersey to go with her yellow one.
Over 1200 amateur cyclists from 79 countries, plus WorldTour superstars Peter Sagan and Zdenek Štybarm took part in the second edition of L’Etape Dubai.
