The first race of the 2026 gravel season rolled out from Milano, Texas USA near the cycling mecca of Austin on Saturday 10 January, with elite road racers Gabriel Porterfield (TEAM CADENCE CYCLERY) and Sarah Guilbert (SPECTRA RACING) notching victories at the Milano Cookie Crusher.
In windy and cold (42F) conditions Gabriel Porterfield, 26, claimed overall victory in the 61 mile Full Cookie race, soloing in for the win with an overall time of 2:56:23. Chase Collins, 35, and Chris Tolley, 37, filled the lower podium steps in that order with times of 2:57:04 and 2:58:23.
Sarah Guilbert, 37, took top honors in the women’s competition, crossing the finish in 3:26:51, almost 30 minutes up on Jocelyn Gamel in second place. Lorena Perez was third.
The 47 mile Not Quite a Full Cookie race saw Garrett Pike, 47, win for the men and Ally White, 39, do the same for the women.
Elier Rodriguez, 44, and Rosalina Barragan, 49, won the shorter 34 mile Cookie Bite race for the men and women respectively.
