German ultra cyclist Sebastian ‘Basti’ Trimborn closed out 2025 in grand style, setting a new official Guiness World Record for indoor cycling of 536 virtual kilometers (333 miles) in 12 hours.
The incredible performance bested the old record set last year on Zwift by American Matthew Lefthand by 6 kilometers (3.7 miles).
Just like Lefthand’s ride, Trimborn was aided by virtual pacing robots and hundreds of other Zwift riders that came and went. Allowing the 25 year-old former semi-pro road racer to conserve energy by sitting in the draft of a pack of riders on a flat 17.3 kilometer loop.
Note: Virtual rides on Zwift, MyWhoosh, ROUVY, etc. are not comparable across platforms or over time (even when certified by Guiness) since software developers continually change in-game physics.
Nonetheless, sitting on a bike for 12 hours and covering 536 virtual miles is pretty amazing – and butt numbing.
