Texas based Frisco Triathlon Club announced two of their members were tragically killed while cycling during a group training ride early Saturday morning after a truck crashed into them just north of Dallas.

Today, our FTC family suffered an unimaginable loss.

During our group ride, we lost two of our fellow athletes and dear friends, Andre Kocher and Scott Mages. Words feel inadequate in moments like this, but we want our members to know how deeply saddened we are and how heavy our hearts are tonight.

Scott and Andre were much more than more than fellow triathletes — they were part of our community. They showed up, shared the road and swim lane with us, encouraged others, and embodied the spirit of why this club exists: connection, support, and a shared love of the sport.

Our deepest sympathies go out to their families, friends, and loved ones. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

At 08:17 Pilot Point police received numerous calls of a bicycle-car crash with severe injuries on Farm to Market Road FM-455, upon arrival emergency medics from multiple responding agencies found Scott Mages, 55, and Andre Kocher, 60, unresponsive with life-threatening injuries.

First responders evacuated one of the cyclists by emergency medical helicopter to Medical City Plano, where he died from severe injuries sustained in the crash. The other cyclist was transported by ambulance to Celina Methodist Hospital, where he later died.

Numerous on-scene reports posted on social media allege a truck driver crashed into the cyclists at a high rate of speed, fled the scene and then returned 30 minutes later with heavy damage to the front of the truck, where police arrested the driver.
