On Sunday 7 December 1500 cyclists competed for UCI Gran Fondo World Championship starting bibs for the first time in Bogota at Gran Fondo Colombia.

Lucky amateur athletes finishing in the Top 25% of their UCI age/gender category automatically qualified for the world championships taking place in Niseko, Japan next September.

Earning overall victory on the 128 kilometer gran fondo route, including reaching lung busting elevations above 3000 meters, was Camilo Camacho Quintero (M19-34) in 3:02:12 with an average speed of 39.5 km/h. Juan Sebastian Rocha Saavedra (M35-39) 3:02:33 finished in second place, with brothers Sebastian Molina 3:02:34 (M19-34) and David Molina 3:02:35 (M19-34) just behind.

Gran fondo category winners also include: Oscar Tovar Rivera (M40-44), Milton Toro Restrepo (M45-49), Juan Carlos Restrepo Gonzalez (M50-54), German Uriel Olivares Quinones (M55-59), Catalina Balaguera (W19-34), Gina Samantha Martinez Wilches (W35-39), Camila Cortes Severino (W40-45) and Lizeth Ariza (W45-49).

Older age group categories competed for world championship qualifying spots on a shorter 80km medio fondo route, with Hector Herrera Almonacid (M60-64) the first finisher in 2:10:12.
