Latest anti-doping news from around the world:

On Tuesday the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) announced Italian cyclist Martti Sciortino accepted an 18 month ban after violating anti-doping rules when he tested positive for two prohibited steroids, Dehydrochlormethylestosterone and Stanozolol.

The anti-doping violations occurred on 24 May 2025 in Littau, Switzerland after the 27 year-old 8x Italian BMX National Champion submitted biological samples at the BMX Swiss Challenge Cup race, which he won.

Dehydrochlormethylestosterone (DHCMT) is a potent anabolic steroid more commonly known as Oral Turinbol. It helps athletes grow bigger muscles, gain speed and improve endurance.

Stanozolol is an inexpensive anabolic steroid that mimics the effects of Testosterone to boost muscle growth and aid quick recovery, while maintaining lean body mass. It is often used illegally in race horses.

Both DHCMT and Stanozolol are prohibited at all times by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

The UCI ban prohibits Sciortino from participating in sport in any capacity until 19 December 2026.
