Gran Fondo Siete Lagos, one of the largest and most popular South American cycling events, attracted over 3000 participants this past weekend in the mountainous Patagonia region of Argentina.

Following the picturesque Road of the Seven Lakes, the point-to-point gran fondo started in San Martin de Los Andes and finished in Villa la Angostura 110 kilometers later.

After winning GFNY Colonia in Uruguay earlier this month, 32 year-old Lucas Gaday (DOLORES CYCLES CLUB) added another gran fondo victory to his palmarès. The former Argentinian pro crossed the finish solo to win in 2:34:04, followed by Tomas Conte and Enrique Estevez at 2:35:11 in that order.

2025 Argentinian national road silver medalist Sofia Martelli also soloed to victory for the women. The 36 year-old completed the ride in 2:53:24, almost four minutes ahead of Marina Fernandez at 2:57:09. Pamela De La Iglesias earned third place with a time of 3:00:38.

At next year’s race on 22 November Granfondo Siete Lagos joins the UCI Gran Fondo World Series, providing participants an opportunity to qualify for the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championsip taking place in Haute-Savoie, France if they finish in the Top 25% of their age/gender category.
