For gravel racers Earth will be a little smaller next year – that is, the worldwide Gravel Earth Series.

After launching an ambitious 2025 race calendar with 25 events and a €37,500 prize list, the recently announced 2026 Gravel Earth Series is shrinking to just 12 events with no prize list announced so far – even though competitor Life Time will payout over a half-million dollars.

While the flagship Traka Gravel Earth Series race remains, gone are numerous events put on by independent organizers, including monuments The Rift in Iceland and Gravel Worlds in the USA. While those organizers not returning have remained silent on the situation, the most common reason an organizer leaves a series is due to a weak financial results associated with the cost of joining the series.

Nonetheless, Gravel Earth Series will return for 2026 with a renewed “more connected, more human, more real” vision, easier to understand scoring and age based categories. Plus, they have cobbled together an interesting calendar of worldwide events sure to please many a graveleur. Although, half of the events will be organized by just one company, Klassmark/Traka, fighting to keep the series relevant and alive.

As legendary English cycling commentator Phil Liggett would say, “That’s a big ask.”
