This past weekend for the fifth time Antalya, Turkiye hosted UCI Gran Fondo World Championship qualifying races, with approximately 1000 amateur cyclists from 34 different countries, including 50 Russians competing under the Individual Neutral Athlete (AIN) flag, participating.
Riders finishing in the top 25% of their UCI age/gender category in Gran Fondo Antalya time trial and road races automatically qualified for the August 2026 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships taking place in Niseko, Japan.
Finishing the 92.6km gran fondo road race first and fastest in 2:16:50 was 32 year-old AIN athlete Dimitrii Shevarov (HBFS), with fellow AIN rider and 2025 UCI Gravel World Champion W35-39 Daria Pravilova (ETALON) the fastest woman at 2:17:16.
40 year-old Ekaterina Gurenkova (IMPULSE), also AIN, won the women’s 22.8km time trial in 32:08, with Danil Konotop, 31, of Turkiye doing the same for the men in 27:45.
Local rider Kamer Kanber (BOYRAZ CYCLING ACADEMY), 27, won the 59.9km medio fondo road racer in 1:36:05, while 58 year-old AIN athlete Marina Osipova (SPARTAK TAMBOV), won for the women in 1:38:21.
