For the second year in a row Brendan Johnston (GIANT AUSTRALIA) won the UCI Gravelista world championship qualifying race in a Seymour, Australia on Sunday.
The 33 year-old Australian finished the 135 kilometer muddy gravel race in 3:46:57 to defeat Mark O’Brien by 3 seconds. Kevin Biffiger rolled in just over a minute later to claim third place. Tasman Nankervis, who finished second last year, was fourth.
2025 New Zealand Cyclocross Champion Sharlotte Lucas, 34, won for the women in 4:41:01, followed by Sophie Byrne 4:44:22 and Ella Bloor 4:48:24 to round out the podium.
Tim Jamieson won the 95 kilometer medio length worlds qualifying race for the older age groups, crossing under the banner in 2:51:01. David Sturt 2:51:07 and Robert Young 2:55:51 were next to finish.
Bizzy Butterworth won the women’s medio in 3:15:16, with Kathryn Whalley 3:16:13 and 3:17:09 right behind.
Riders finishing in the top 25% of their UCI age/gender category automatically qualified for the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships planned in Nannup, Australia next October.
