Latest anti-doping news from around the world:

On Friday the International Testing Agency (ITA) announced triathlete Imogen Simmonds of Switzerland is not guilty of an anti-doping violation after she tested positive for the banned substance Ligandrol on 8 December 2024 during an unannounced out-of-competition test.

ITA determined that Simmonds, 32, bore no fault or negligence associated with the positive test result, and that the presence of Ligangrol in her body was due to inadvertent contamination via sexual intercourse with her partner, who was taking supplements containing the banned substance without Simmonds knowledge.

With her provisional ban now lifted and no sanctions issued Simmonds is free to compete in sport once again.

Ligandrol, a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM), is prohibited at all times by the World Anti-Doping Agency since it mimics Testosterone to promote muscle growth and enhance athletic performance.

Earlier this year two cyclists were each banned 3 years after testing positive for Ligandrol: Carlos Daniel Echeverri Cardona of Colombia and Australian Tomasin Clark.
