Italian Kevin Bonaldo (S.C. PADOVANI POLO CHERRY BANK) died Friday morning at hospital San Bortolo in Vicenza, Italy after suffering after cardiac arrest in the final kilometers of the Piccola Sanremo race in Sovizzo, Italy on 21 September.
Since the crash the 25 year-old remained in an induced coma, showing some signs of improvement over the last month, but unfortunately his body was unable to overcome the serious damage and he passed away with family by his side.
His brother Antonio said, “I want to thank everyone who supported and encouraged us during this month. Kevin felt all that encouragement and, until the end, he fought every day to recover. A very special thank you to all the doctors and staff at the San Bortolo hospital in Vicenza, to the team that accompanied us and to everyone who sent even a thought to Kevin.”
Team manager Galdino Peruzzo added, “SC Padovani Polo Cherry Bank is devastated to announce that this morning, after a month in which he bravely fought between life and death, Kevin Bonaldo passed away. Our entity would like to express its closeness to Kevin’s family and all his loved ones.”
