Latest anti-doping news from around the world:
The Italian Anti-Doping Agency (NADO Italia) has provisionally suspended and charged amateur cyclist Gianbernardino Velotti with two anti-doping violations after he allegedly tested positive for Erythropoietin (EPO) in a control carried out by the agency.
The new charges come just weeks after Velotti finished serving a 3 year ban on 12 September for violating World Anti-Doping Article 2.3 – “Avoidance, refusal or non-presentation by the Athlete to undergo the taking of the biological sample. Evading biological sample collection or refusing to undergo or fail to submit to biological sample collection without valid justification following notification by a specifically authorized person.”

Velotti resumed racing in late September, winning the Masters 30-34 category Italian Medio Fondo Championship on the 28th at Granfondo La Medievale.
Note: Provisionally suspended athletes are presumed innocent until an anti-doping court hears their case and renders a verdict, but in the meantime they are not allowed to participate in sport in any capacity.
