The Italian season wrapped up on Sunday at Gran Fondo Lombardia as 1500 amateurs competed on the same roads where the world’s #1 professional cyclist, Tadej Pogacar, won the day before at the monumental classic Il Lombardia.

Starting and finishing in Cantu near Lake Como, the 113 kilometer race included two categorized climbs, Muro Di Sormani and the famous Madonna Del Ghisallo, both with leg breaking gradients as steep as 27%.

Alberto Nardin (TEAM BCP BIKE) won from a select breakaway of three riders after a blistering attack on the final climb to the finish line. With time of 2:59:41 the 35 year-old defeated Giovanni Loiscio 2:59:44 and Luca Cavallo 2:59:46.

35 year-old Martina Cavallo (OM.CC) dominated the women’s competition to win by a huge margin – 14 minutes. She powered across the finish line to celebrate with a winning time of 3:20:43. Sonia Passuti 3:34:28 took second place and Isabella Vianello 3:39:50 third.
