Starting and finishing in the home of Irish cycling legend and Tour de France star Sean Kelly, Carrick-on-Suir, L’Etape Ireland hosted 1000+ riders on Sunday 28 August.

Up-and-coming 17 year-old Hugh Og Mulhearne (AS VILLEMUR CYCLISME) soloed to victory by 16 minutes on the 150 kilometer course with 2000 meters of climbing. The Irish Junior National Team rider finished in 3:56:46, with David Healy 4:13:11 and Gary Field 4:13:55 next.

Paralympic gold medalist Katie-George Dunlevy won the women’s competition by a wide margin too, crossing the finish in 4:31:46. Veronika Krolova 5:13:51 and Caroline O Riordan Donegan 5:21:54 earned second and third place.

Dunlevy and Mulhearne also took home the QOM/KOM climbing titles, while Catherine Kiely and Paul-Antoine Hagan won the Sprint competition.

The 100 kilometer medio length course was won by John Dowley 2:50:06, with Kelvin Kruschel 2:50:56 and Sean O Halloran 2:53:52 not far behind.

Niamh O Dwyer won the women’s medio in 3:07:31. Leah Desmond 3:12:26 and Lorraine Manning 3:27:14 filled the lower podium steps.
