Latest anti-doping news from around the world:
Colombian Cycling Federation reports U23 amateur cyclist Francisco Jamarilla has been provisionally suspended by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) after two separate anti-doping tests allegedly revealed the presence of unspecified Anabolic Androgenic Steroids. The 20 year-old submitted Out-of-Competition anti-doping test samples on 11 August 2025 and then again In-Competition 12 August at the Pan American Youth Games in Asuncion, Paraguay, where he won a gold medal on the after track. After winning silver medals at the UCI Junior Track World Championships in 2022 and 2023 Jamarilla was considered as a potential successor to Colombia’s greatest sprinter, Fernando Gaviria.
Note: Provisionally suspended athletes are presumed innocent until an anti-doping court renders a verdict, but in the meantime they are not allowed to participate in sport in any capacity.
Also, the UCI banned Colombian Luis Carlos Chia Bermudez for 3 years after he tested positive for the banned In-Competition stimulant Phentermine on 10 April 2025 at the Tour of Hainan in China, where he finished 5th overall. The 28 year-old is prohibited from participating in sport in any capacity until 2 June 2028.
