Latest anti-doping news from around the world:
United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) banned amateur age-group triathlete and wellness coach Anthony McCauley, 46, for a period of 4 years after he committed World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) violations, including Article 2.9: Complicity or Attempted Complicity by an Athlete or Other Person to assist, encourage, aid, abet, conspire or cover up an anti-doping rule violation.
According to a USADA press release on 17 September:
“After receiving information from a whistleblower, USADA initiated an investigation that uncovered evidence demonstrating that McCauley, 46, possessed and used BPC-157 and TB-500. USADA also determined that McCauley used social media to promote various prohibited substances, such as BPC-157, TB-500, CJC-1295, ipamorelin, and tesamorelin to his followers, some of whom were athletes subject to the World Anti-Doping Code (the Code). By encouraging his followers to purchase and use prohibited substances, McCauley’s actions qualified as attempted complicity, which is a violation under the rules.”
McCauley was interviewed on the 17 February 2025 podcast Age Grouper For Life Triathlon Episode 135, where he discussed training, racing, age-group doping and using BPC-157 and TB-500. He even acknowledged some of the substances promoted were banned and on the WADA Prohibited List.
BPC-157, TB-500, CJC-1295, and ipamorelin are classified by WADA as Peptide Hormones, Growth Factors, Related Substances and Mimetics that are prohibited at all times. They are not approved for human use and may pose significant safety risks to athletes using them, including immune reactions, cardiac events and death, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
McCauley is prohibited from participating in sport in any capacity, including coaching, from 9 September 2025 until 8 September 2029.
