2025 UCI Gravel World Championship qualifying took place high in the Sierra Mountains of California USA Saturday morning at Mammoth Tuff Gravel on a demanding 89 mile high desert course with over 7500 vertical feet of climbing.
Starting and finishing at 8000ft elevation in the ski resort town of Mammoth Lakes, New Zealander Caleb Botcher, 24, earned a starting bib for the world championships by winning in 4:27:35, followed by 27 year-old Lance Haidet 4:28:09 and 31 year-old Darren Fahy 4:30:20.
American Jennifer Tave, 35, won the women’s race in 5:20:05, with 47 year-old Rachel McBride 5:45:45 and 27 year-old Sofia Schugar 5:46:37 also reaching the podium in that order.
The shorter 67 mile medio length race saw 40 year-old Tim Tollefson 2:17:15 and 49 year-old Julia Sparrow 2:41:35 reach the finish first for the men and women respectively.
Riders finishing in the top 25% of their UCI age/gender category automatically qualified for the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships taking place in the Limburg, Netherlands next month.
