Sad news out of Courcemont, France where 16 year-old cyclist Noa Sartis died of an apparent heart attack while competing in a road race on Sunday, according to his team, Union Cycliste Joue-les-Tours.
Stéphane Lemaître, president of the team, told FranceInfo.fr, “Something was wrong. He stopped on the side of the road, without falling. He sat down before losing consciousness. The rescuers failed to resuscitate him”
The team made the tragic announcement on Facebook, “The Union Cycliste Joué-les-Tours announces with sadness the death of Noa Sartis at the age of 16 years old. Noa was a cyclist of our U-17 team. In addition to his sporting qualities this year he triumphed in the velodrome (regional and Departmental champion in pursuit), in the Montlouis race and in the Saint Aignan event. Noa was generous, feisty and appreciated by his teammates, coaches and team leaders. We are in shock and it is a difficult moment to overcome for his family, friends and teammates, but everyone has a big heart to honour him in the upcoming races. All the members of the Union Cycliste Joué-les-Tours send his parents our condolences and all our support,”
