Inspired by their world famous 8000 rider Hotter N Hell 100-mile road ride in Wichita Falls, Texas USA, the city is now going gravel, adding a $10,000 USD cash prize purse gravel race this October.

Rather than racing in the dreaded August 100F Texas heat that is legendary at Hotter N Hell, the Cooler N Hell 100-mile gravel race, as well as a 50-mile race, will take place 25 October 2025 in more humane conditions with daily temperatures not expected to top 75F.

A $10,000 cash purse will be distributed to top men, women, men 40+ and women 40+ categories in both the 100-Mile and 50-Mile races.

Although the official routes have not yet been announced, competitors can expect to race over rugged North Texas backroads covered in limestone, packed dirt and loose gravel, as well as some singletrack. With the region being relatively flat race speeds will be fast – zoom, zoom.

The event will stay true to American style grassroots gravel racing, with only 8 simple rules: 1) Be kind, 2) Be friendly, 3) Don’t break the law, 4) Stay on course, 5) Pass politely on singletrack 6) Don’t be tossing trash, 7) No skipping checkpoints and most importantly 8) Have fun and smile.
